Monitoring the stability of a sun simulator enables the researcher to improve the stability of the PV cell and precision of the I-V measurement. The sun simulator is for example used to test the produced PV solar panel and classify it according to the STC standardization.
With the MP-180, a dedicated I-V tracer to characterize PV cells, the solar sensor or reference gives real time feedback of the sun simulator stability to optimize the I-V measurement. It is recommended to use a Si-pyranometer or reference cell, rather then using a slow response thermopile pyranometer. ML-02 S-sensor has a low profile which can be easily adopted to the application.
