    Archaea in boosting methane production.

The trials clearly demonstrated that the microbial biomass present in the Archaea additive is capable, after rehydration, of stimulating the production of biogas in anaerobic reactor, with an efficiency identical to that of the control biomass (U1) and with an efficiency almost as good as the fresh biomass (F1).

  • Production of Biofuels from Microalgae

Production of biofuels from certain microalgae and cyanobacteria would appear to be the most promising alternative to current methods, since its yield is very high, sustainable, uses either wastewater, brackish or seawater, does not require the use of agricultural land, does not compete with human food and the cultivation process consumes the CO2noxious gas.

ALGAENERGY is responsibly paving the way towards making microalgal-based biofuels industrially profitable.  The R&D projects assigned to this task include work on selection and genetic engineering of different microalgae to produce substantial lipid-carriers, some of them patented, as well as the establishment of a suitable and scalable production process.

  • Energy management

With energy costs skyrocketing, companies are looking for ways to optimize energy usage and cut costs, but maintain production output. Companies now capture details of energy use, such as peak and non-peak use and type of fuel used— natural gas, steam, coal, etc. There are different programs such as Energy Star that companies are using for guidance and reporting.

  • Transformer Drying

HERING has specialized in improving the life cycle of transformers. This starts during the transformer manufacturing process. The right transformer drying solution provides a low process time, but also protects the equipment from high internal stresses. Here, the HERING Drying Series product line offers state-of-the-art technology to speed up your transformer manufacturing operations. During the later life cycle of the transformer, not only drying the insulating oil extends the lifetime, but also drying the insulating material has a significant positive impact. For the latter, the HERING Drying Series – our product line of state-of-the-art vacuum transformer drying ovens – is your ideal choice.

    Gas Sensing for Gasification

Syngas (short for synthetic gas) can be burnt and used as a fuel source, the main constituents of syngas are Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Hydrogen (H), which amount for around 85% of Syngas, and it is produced by a process called Gasification. Gasification starts with a base material which can originate from a wide variety of materials for example wood chips and pellets, plastics, municipal solid waste, sewage, waste crops, and fossil fuels such as coal. During Gasification the base material is reacted at high temperature without combustion with controlled amounts of oxygen (O) or steam. The composition of the base material combined with the amount of oxygen and heat used in the process affects the composition of the resultant SynGas, in which the CO can vary between around 20 and 60%. In addition, large amounts of H and CO are also formed. The measurement of CO is therefore an important feature in the production of SynGas.
