Did you know ?
Siloxanes are used frequently in industrial processes and many consumer products, therefore sometimes they can be introduced into feedstocks and then volatilise into the biogas being produced. These silicon-containing gases can cause damage to gas engines and other AD plant equipment because when they are heated they form hard, glass like shards which damage surfaces and other engine parts. There are various methods for removing siloxanes including activated carbon beds and siloxane removal systems.
