Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate

Bridging the Economic Divide through Renewable Energy Based Empowerment

This project aims to promote green power and clean technologies, and demonstrate sustainable growth through the establishment of “Rural Entrepreneurship Zones (REZ’s).” These REZ’s will demonstrate the institutional and financial viability of renewable energy for micro-enterprises to be stationed in rural areas of India. Economic activity will be encouraged around these renewable power supply zones, with the aim of significantly reducing emissions. Partner countries will establish a management model to develop and operate REZ’s, build partnerships for leveraging policy support and financial investments to accelerate their widespread deployment, and advocate strategic policies that will enhance the REZ business model. The United States and India are participating Partners in this project.
