Carbon Trust awards AEA three-year contract
AEA Energy & Environment has been awarded a £1 million contract to provide support over three years to The Carbon Trust’s Applied Research Programme. The Applied Research Programme supports UK businesses and research institutions in the development and commercialisation of technology with the potential to reduce UK carbon dioxide emissions.
Starting in April 2007, this contract follows a similar programme successfully delivered by AEA over the last four years. AEA will assist the Carbon Trust in managing the negotiation and issue of grants to successful applicants and monitor projects against milestones and deliverables from grant award to completion.
Dr Garry Felgate, Managing Director of AEA Energy & Environment, said, ‘This programme is at the heart of the Carbon Trust’s objective to capture the commercial opportunities of low carbon technologies as a key driver in helping the UK move towards a low carbon economy and targets highlighted in the recent climate change bill.
‘AEA is delighted to be using its extensive expertise in this area to help make the development and commercialisation of low carbon technology in the UK happen.’
AEA also provides specific technical skills to the Carbon Trust assisting in the evaluation of proposals to the Applied Research Programme, as described below.
