Carillion uses eSight to save energy at the great Western hospital, Swindon
Carillion are a facilities management company, working primarily with PFI’s (Private Finance Initiatives) and Health Estates. They use eSight Energy’s energy suite, eSight, to manage energy across a large number of client estates including The Great Western Hospital at Swindon.
The Great Western Hospital is a very modern district hospital providing emergency care, surgery, diagnostics, paediatric care, maternity and out-patient services. The hospital opened in 2002 and holds over 600 beds.
The Requirement
Due to rising energy bills and increasing legislation, The Great Western Hospital at Swindon realised the need to manage their energy effectively.
Carillion needed to implement a complete energy management solution that would enable them to reduce energy costs and greenhouse gases, and ensure that the existing building management system was being used efficiently at the hospital.
More specifically they required a fully web based system, accessible from any PC across the hospital. They needed to continually monitor energy consumption on a month by month basis, allowing them to compare the data to the same month, year on year, as well as perform further comprehensive analyses of functions such as budgeting, legislative analysis and invoice validation.
