Polysolar supplied BIPV glazing units for a walkway canopy at Prior Weston Primary School, Barbican, London.
Objective:
Play area canopy designed to offer a dry and safe school yard extension, whilst reducing heat gain and glare in classrooms and providing renewable electricity.
Result:
The transparent PV glass was mounted on a steel cantilever frame, supplied by Able Canopies, who also installed the electrical system. The installation used PS-C-901 series transparent units as an alternative to polycarbonate sheets. This gave an exceptionally attractive finish and an overt demonstration of the need for renewable technologies to the school children. The direct benefits for the school are reduced energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
