Case study - SP Fire Laboratory, Sweden
Fire laboratory at SP Borås uses EnviBat’s Wet Electrostatic Precipitator technology (WESP) since 2007. Extremely low emissions and high availability are key advantages.
Project: WetESP for Fire Laboratory
Many fire tests are made in full scale. Example for fire tests can be engine rooms, vehicles, store houses, compartments etc. Most of the tests will include ignite phase, full fire and extinguishing. The ignite phase is sooting, full fire will give high temperatures (500-700 °C) and the extinguish phase glows and moisture. The laboratory is operated eight hours a day. The plant has to start/stop every day. Year 1999 SP installed their new system for smoke abatement. The emission standards for dust is < 100 mg/Nm3 and for HCl < 20 mg/Nm3.
Result:
Measurements are showing emissions considerable below standards.
A technology and supplier we strongly recommend
In our specification we, in the addition to the emission standards inserted the following criterias; Sturdiness, temperature and flow range, glowing particulates, saturated gases and low operating costs. Our choice ended up in a WESP, a technology that adressed all our aspects.
More than 10 year experience gives that we made the right choice.
