Coming along nicely our client travels from Jersey to inspect the progress of their new medical waste incinerator
We’ve often talked about how most of the waste incineration plant we manufacture is either personally customised or are bespoke projects that have been individually designed and built to meet specific requirements. When we are engineering ‘one-off’ units such as these it is quite normal for our clients to pay us a visit at our workshops in Hyde near Manchester, England just to check on progress and to confirm that everything is going to plan. Very recently we were pleased to welcome our client, who in this case is ‘The States of Jersey’, when they came to inspect work to date on their new bespoke medical waste incinerator.
This ‘blank sheet’ medical waste incinerator that we are now in the process of manufacturing has been individually designed to incorporate all the features specified by our client as well as several others that were recommended by ourselves to ensure that it will more than meet every expectation. In addition to the design of the medical waste incinerator itself, we also contributed suggestions for the footprint and civils of the purpose-planned building in which it will be housed to ensure that the construction is tailored to the facility in order to maximise operational efficiency and maintainability.
We are pleased to report that our client is delighted with the progress so far and is more than happy with the quality of the workmanship that he saw.
The bespoke medical waste incinerator we are building has been designed to incorporate a whole catalogue of special features that include: bin washer, bin tipper, automatic ram loader, stepped hearth arrangement, secondary chamber, plus flue gas abatement and emission monitoring equipment ensuring that it complies with the most stringent environmental requirements of the EU Waste Incineration Directive/Industrial Emission Directive (WID/IED).
Throughout the UK and across Europe this rigorous standard applies to the incineration of all solid waste types with the exemption of clean wood and animal remains that are governed by separate guidance notes.
Having now inspected the progress of their new medical waste incinerator and spoken at length to our design and engineering teams, when we were able to reassure them that we are on target to meet the agreed timetable, our client has declared their full satisfaction and they are now eagerly anticipating their next inspection visit to our factory in October. By then the entire system will be complete and fully fitted out on our shop floor to show exactly how it will sit in its installed position in preparation for full factory testing and commissioning.
Following the successful workshop firing and stringent in-house testing procedures, the certified medical waste incinerator will be carefully crated and shipped to its location on the island of Jersey where our team will travel to complete its installation, commissioning and hand-over.
