Project Overview:
DenningSons Farms in Jonesville, Michigan took a giant leap to cut their energy cost and usage. As one of the first dairy farms in Michigan to have solar installed, the 77 panel array will produce about 10 percent of the farms annual electricity demand.
“The project costs about $90,000, but will be paid back through the grants and loans as well as savings in energy costs in roughly six to eight years. The long term, yet reasonable, investment opportunities that a solar installation provides for Michigan farmers are substantial. Which bring more and more farmers looking into installing small solar plants on their farms, with returns and encouragement from the community and utility companies.
