Landfill Gas to Renewable Natural Gas Project Goes Ahead in Michigan
Greenlane Biogas, a subsidiary of the Flotech Group of companies (founded in 1986), is pleased to confirm that it recently has received an order to build two 'Totara+' landfill gas upgrading systems to process 3200 scfm (approximately 5150 Nm3/hr) of gas to be injected into a local natural gas pipeline near Detroit Michigan.
Greenlane Biogas, a developer and supplier of proprietary water scrubbing technology which removes impurities such and carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and trace contaminants from landfill gas to convert it to a high methane purity renewable fuel, is supplying the systems to Canton Renewables, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Clean Energy Fuels Corp., based out of Seal Beach, California.
'We are very excited to be introducing Flotech's gas upgrading technology to the North American landfill market. We believe that Flotech's unique approach to biogas purification will enable increasingly cost-effective production of pipeline quality renewable natural gas, which we can inject into the natural gas pipeline grid and distribute to our customers throughout North America,' said Harrison Clay, President of Clean Energy Renewable Fuels.
'This is a key project for Greenlane, since it is our first with Clean Energy and is our largest project to date in the US, ' said Sean Mezei, President of Greenlane North America. 'The ability of our process to manage and remove landfill gas impurities, while maintaining very high methane yields and low operating costs were key reasons why Greenlane was awarded this project.'
The landfill gas upgrading systems for this project are scheduled for delivery during the first quarter of 2012.
