Recycling of Fly Ash Produced in Combustion of Brown Coal with Increased Germanium Content
A possibility of utilization of fly ash resulting from combustion of Czech brown coal with increased germanium content in a circulation fluidised bed combuster is examined in this study to recover germanium chloride. The laboratory measurement presented in this paper was focused on three aspects: obtaining raw germanium chloride by its direct distillation from the suspension of fly ash and HCl; leaching of fly ash in solutions of H2SO4 and/or in solutions of NaOH under different laboratory conditions to achieve maximum germanium extraction and, finally to separate germanium compounds from sulfuric solutions or raw germanium chloride from alkaline solutions.
