Research trends in fusion engineering: a global perspective

This paper attempts to highlight the growth and development of fusion engineering literature as per the Web of Science (WoS) database during 1991–October 2010 and make the quantitative and qualitative assessments by way of analysing various features of research output such as year–wise distribution of publications and citations, publication growth rate, country–wise distribution of publications, co–authorship index, institutional productivity, international collaboration, distribution of publications and citations in various domains of fusion engineering, domain–wise activity index, collaboration pattern and extent of citations, identification of highly cited publications, language–wise distribution of publications and citations, journals preferred for publication by the scientists, quality of research output and analysis of keywords.
