The V
3
O
7
/graphene oxide nanocomposites (V
3
O
7
/GO) were synthesised by a hydrothermal method. In the nanocomposites, the V
3
O
7
nanobelts are dozens of nanometres in width and several micrometres in length. Acted as the electrode materials, the V
3
O
7
/GO nanocomposites exhibit a high initial discharge capacity of 352 mAh·g
–1
at the current density of 100 mA·g
–1
. Moreover, V
3
O
7
/GO electrode materials exhibit a good cycling performance. Comparing the 50th cycle with the 1st cycle, the capacity retention of the V
3
O
7
/GO nanocomposites is 87% and 91% at the current density of 400 mA·g
–1
and 800 mA·g
–1
, respectively.
