About Us
The joint activities of ANDINO senior staff date back to the years 1985/86, when cooperation with the business of NOELL Hydropower Engineering Division, Switzerland, was set up. At this time, NOELL, a member company of the then SALZGITTER industrial group, seized the opportunity to step into the field of water turbines manufacturing by hiring professionals in Slovenia, where technical know-how and expertise in hydropower generation technologies were a key-segment of the regional development for more than 50 years. Steadily growing business volume finally led to the establishment of ANDINO Hydropower Engineering Ltd. Ljubljana, as an independent firm, in the year 1992.
Under the terms of cooperation agreements between the two companies, ANDINO committed itself to provide engineering assistance both in design work and supervision for ongoing NOELL projects. In addition, ANDINO launched its independent activities. The company quickly grew to greater maturity, at the time when the tasks of project design, quality assurance and works supervision were conveyed entirely to ANDINO.
During several years, the NOELL-ANDINO cooperation thus offered valuable opportunities to gain international recognition and experience. In the meantime, NOELL had been acquired by the PREUSSAG Group, which in 1998 decided to give up most of their industrial participations, including the segment of hydromachinery contracting. By means of exclusive transfer agreements, respective NOELL company knowhow, plant references rights and facilities, as well as ongoing contracts were handed over to ANDINO.
Thus, being granted full independence, a reshaping of the company structure has been undertaken in 1999, in view of wider goals. Complementary to the company facilities in Ljubljana and Logatec, a subsidiary with newly built premises was launched in Archamps (Haute-Savoie), France. Synergy effects of joint operation at the two locations are proving to be beneficial for the company's penetration into international markets. While at the turn of the century the consolidated turnover per year was less than € 4Mio, its value has grown year after year now reaching almost € 15Mio for the 2010 business year.
As earnings are keeping a similar pace, the Company is doing quite well so far.
