Our Experience
Our unique capability has seen us deliver a comprehensive range of carbon reduction and sustainable development projects across a vast range of industries and global markets.
The technologies through which we develop emission reduction projects are numerous and include industrial energy efficiency, waste gas and heat to power, small-scale wind and hydro as well as biomass and biofuels.
In an advisory capacity, our work is equally diverse and incorporates forestry and land use change, sustainable development, strategic policy, energy and resource management, emission assessment and carbon management.
History
From our earliest work promoting sustainable energy to more recent award-winning carbon projects, our history is rich with innovation, industry firsts and breakthroughs in low carbon technologies and sustainable development.
Our pedigree is the result of the strong foundations laid by our founders, who today are some of the world’s leading figures in the fight against climate change. This foundation has been built upon with the passion and expertise of all our people globally, who share in our vision to create a sustainable, low carbon society.
Corporate Social Responsibility
As a company specialising in energy and emissions reduction, we are committed to creating a cleaner economy and undertake internal and external CSR projects to reduce our global carbon footprint as well as enhance sustainable development in our local communities.
Our people- We recruit, develop and retain the best talent available and we encourage shared decision making, continuous professional development, an informal working environment and the positive involvement of employees through shareholding. We conduct staff exchange programs and secondments designed to increase capability across a range of managerial and technical areas.
Our environment- We’re proud to say that Camco is a carbon neutral business. In 2010 our global carbon footprint was 949 tonnes CO2 equivalent, a net decrease of 21% from our 2009 footprint (1,200t CO2e) and a 25% decrease in emissions per employee. We reduce our energy use wherever possibleand offset all remaining emissions through emission reduction projects. Camco purchased carbon emission reduction certificates from Plan Vivo projects to offset all remaining emissions. Plan Vivo projects are located in Latin America and Africa and promote environmental protection, education, local capacity building and poverty relief.
As part of our aim to secure 10% of our energy from onsite renewable sources, a biomass heating system run on wood pellets was installed in Overmoor, one of our largest UK offices, to replace the gas heating system and help reduce our carbon footprint. In Africa, two of our three offices have harnessed the abundance of sunlight to power their operations on solar generated electricity.Click here to read Camco's Environmental Policy.
