Why Innoplana
For public authorities, the efficient management of the waste from water treatment plants is a matter of priority. Changes in regulations, citizens expectations and concern for protecting the environment all lead to a search for a solution fulfilling these criteria.
Sludge drying involves the use of heat to evaporate moisture from sludge in order to further reduce its volume and weight for transport and disposal.
Sludge drying is a solution which incorporates the various objectives of a sustainable biosolids management program.
Municipal
Thermal drying is one of the several methods that can be used to treat wastewater sludge. The advantages of thermal drying are many:
- Reduction in volume
- Production of biostable class A biosolids
- Reduction of the overall sludge control cost, particularly through the reduction of storage, transport and incineration costs.
Industrial
Thermal drying is widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical and agri-food industries. A broad range of products such as industrial sludge, wood, biomass waste or paper sludge can be treated in this manner.
End Uses
Thermal drying is the technical solution that offers the most variety of end uses:
- Agricultural reuse, with or without further additives
- Gasification
- Industrial reuse (cement plants, power stations, etc.)
- Incineration or co-incineration
- Landfill
Dust-free
Sludge is transformed into granules in the extruder, while the sludge is in a plastic phase. Then, the granules are deposited onto the belt dryer without any friction.
Safety
By avoiding the production of dust and the use of high temperatures, especially with the dry granulate, the INNODRY® 2E also avoids explosion risks and reduces the risks of combustion to such a level that it is 'fully' compliant with the European Explosive Atmosphere (ATEX) directives without any oxygen monitoring or control. This is unique to the INNODRY® 2E.
