J.M. Power Aggregates Limited
J.M. Power Aggregates Limited was founded in 1985, operating as a small regional business serving the North Eastern and Midwestern parts of North America. At that time, coal cinders were very easy to obtain and utilities did not face the strict regulations they do today. Coal cinders were abundantly available from old railway beds. These coal cinders were screened and delivered to our customers in end dump units. As the supply diminished, and regulations became stricter, the research for an natural, environmentally friendly alternative began. Owner, inventor and distributor of environmentally friendly natural cinders used to seal gates and stop logs at hydroelectric stations across North America.

About Us
Since 1985, we have been supplying lightweight aggregates to hydroelectric dams throughout North America to seal sluice gates, head gates and stop logs.
We supply large and small utility companies throughout North America with a new, proven STOPLEAK solution that quickly seals gates & stop logs and is environmentally friendly.
Replacement for Coal Cinders, Bottom Ash and Clinkers
The need to source an effective alternative to coal cinders, bottom ash and clinkers began in the early 90’s when environmental impact reviews occurred at hydro operations across North America.
Some hydro producers continued their use of coal cinders, bottom ash and clinkers while others tried different materials such as corn, wood chips, horse manure and concrete materials with limited success.
Natural Cinders - A proven, environmentally friendly STOPLEAK solution
We have invested a great deal of time and efforts into the development of a unique blend of naturally occurring material called Natural Cinders.
This new, proven STOPLEAK product surpasses the sealing abilities of other alternatives and is environmentally friendly.
Beginning with the weight, texture and sink rates of coal cinders, many materials were tested to see if they could seal gates and stop logs as well as coal cinders. Some materials sank too fast or not at all, others did not have the same abrasive texture that would allow it to mechanically lock into the leaks. The research continued.
Finally, after many years of travel, a suitable material was discovered. It had very similar characteristics as coal cinders, gradual sink rates and was very abrasive, allowing it to mechanically lock onto wood, steel or concrete.
This material is a naturally occurring substance and is only altered by its size. The product is environmentally friendly and has excellent sealing qualities. It was introduced in the spring of 2011 and is now being used by power utilities in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Arkansas, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Ontario. We are confident that our material will help you with your dewatering procedures and sealing your gates & stop logs.
Our corporate office is located in Arnprior, Ontario Canada. To ensure prompt delivery, lower shipping costs and no customs, we have inventory strategically located all over North America. The material is manufactured in the USA and we use all USA based companies for shipping by rail, transloading, bagging and trucking services. We deliver anywhere in North America.
