KWB stands for Kraft (power) and Wärme (heat) from Biomasse (biomass) and is synonymous with cutting-edge biomass heating systems from Austria. The brand from Styria in Austria was created by the pioneering spirit of the researcher August Raggam and the committed organic farmer Erwin Stubenschrott, who as the pioneers of regenerative energies have always followed a clear vision: We Provide Energy for Life!

With this promise, we provide our customers with the certainty that KWB's biomass heating systems set an unmistakable signal for the responsible handling of resources and the protection of life for the next generations on our Earth.

Innovative power

We have been developing and producing innovative premium heating system solutions since 1994. From that time on, we have repeatedly reconfirmed our continuous innovative strengths in the further developments we produce as a brand manufacturer. Starting with the first wood chip heating system with fully automatic heat exchanger cleaning system, the development of the under-feed combustion for wood pellet heating systems, to the establishment of the first (and currently the largest) private research and development centre for biomass in Europe. KWB Research and Development Centre: for biomass in Europe.

Focus on the individual

More than 60,000 customers have placed their trust in our company and opted for the KWB brand. This trust enables our company not only to make an economic and ecological contribution but also to live up to its social responsibility.

Based on these values, KWB always places the individual at the centre of its decisions. After all, the economy exists for the people not vice versa. Valuing our customers as partners and treating them with respect are a mark of our company culture. And this is because we are convinced that respect for people and nature will be the principal asset for our future. The KWB logo demonstrates our commitment to this.

'The only chance we have to avoid a climate collapse and global warming is to convert mankind's energy supply to renewable energy.'

Based on this conviction, the biomass pioneer and subsequent company founder Dr. August Raggam developed revolutionary processes for the clean and efficient burning of biomass as far back as the 1970s. In 1985, he established the research institute 'Alternative Energy Generation' at the Technical University Graz, and in 1994 he founded the company KWB - Kraft und Wärme aus Biomasse GmbH (power and heat from biomass) together with the mechanic and organic farmer Erwin Stubenschrott and additional partners in Graz.

Three years later the company moved to St. Margarethen/Raab in Eastern-Styria. Since then the company has continuously expanded. In 2000, a second production hall was built, followed by the construction of a third only one year later. In 2003, the KWB Competence Centre was constructed. It is used to link industry expertise and image building.

Expansion

The strong demand for biomass heating systems all across Europe led to the establishment of subsidiaries in Germany, Italy, Slovenia and France. In Ireland, the U.K., Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and Chile, KWB is represented by strong sales partnerships.

In the meantime, KWB has become known for its innovative edge with respect to biomass heating systems. To ensure KWB's innovative power for the future, the first research and development centre for biomass was built in 2006. In the meantime, it has developed to become the largest private research centre in Europe.

We are committed to renewable energy!

As a means of implementing our mission statement, we have defined our quality, environmental and risk policies and used these to derive our goals.

We regularly test our employees' knowledge of the goals set out in our mission statement, and also evaluate how they're implemented.

We provide energy for life!

Experience KWB

Thinking in terms of generations, as well as the foresighted corporate strategy, have led to the establishment of a prime example for a new form of regional energy sovereignty.

The unique combination of raw materials from the region and the maximum of useful technology has meanwhile become an attraction for thousands of visitors. The heart is the largest energy showcase garden for alternative fuels from agriculture - on an area of 23,000 m2, new plant cultures are conducted focusing on the topics of wood energy, agroforestry and the systematic increase of the soil's humus content.
