Research & Development
MECAMIDI has been investing for many years in Research & Development, working closely with prestigious universities in Grenoble, Lausanne and Toulouse.
The research and development of MECAMIDI in predictive turbine modeling by CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) has been crucial to offer our clients a performance security equivalent to the one provided by the models run into a laboratory.
The R&D on flow optimization has 3 main missions:
- R&D of standard hydraulic profiles improves performance in terms of efficiency and cavitation
- When studying a given project, our standard profiles are adapted to provide an appropriate and optimal solution, as each site is unique
- In case of maintenance or refurbishment, hydraulic modeling of existing plants can be very useful to understand the hydraulic issues encountered by our customers; thus enabling to provide them with relevant solutions.
As for the mechanical part, all stress and strain calculations to the structure frequency responses are tested. All aspects subject to validation are approached to ensure the perfect integration of our components in a rotating assembly. This way, with the data provided by the generator manufacturer (and potentially speed increaser provider), MECAMIDI ensures the robustness and reliability of the entire shafting line by making rotor dynamics calculations with torsional and inflectional analysis.
The MECAMIDI know-how acquired during the past 50 years of experience in hydraulics is an undeniable asset in the development of technical solutions.
Thus, from the mechanical parts and assemblies until their integration into the civil works, via the auxiliaries operation principles (hydraulic governor, cooling system, filtration, etc.), the technicians and engineers of the design office provide adequate responses to the projects they manage.
