We specialize in the design, set-up, management and operations of test water supply systems required for the hydrostatic testing of API 650, 620 and 653 storage tanks, AWWA storage tanks, pipelines and ASME pressure vessels.
We have over 150 years of combined experience in the water management and hydrotest markets throughout Canada, and have processes and procedures of the highest quality to support our clients' specific needs and conditions. We have operational capability year round, and are able to operate in extreme cold weather with our specialized heating equipment and comprehensive cold weather operating procedures. We are also able to operate in remote and environmentally sensitive locations given our methodical processes, and procedures that reduce environmental impact and meet federal waterway compliance requirements.
OUR SERVICES
We perform hydrostatic testing services on all sizes and types of atmospherically operated storage tanks both in newly built applications and the re-certification of existing storage tanks. We perform all test services covering the entire spectrum from the sourcing of any crossing agreements on public and private land, diversion licensing from applicable regulatory bodies, permanent or temporary water pumping systems, particulate filtration, water sampling and code specific functional test of the storage tank completed to applicable construction code or standard. The final step in our services is to supply a professionally assembled turn over package with detailed information required for the applicable regulatory body or utility commission granting the fit for service authorization.
This particular hydrostatic test is not only performed for leak detection, but is also intended to provide the client a full operational test environment for such things as foundation settlement, rolling ladder operational check or a floating roof pontoon leak test and operational run through. Our skilled technicians and project managers are trained to support all elements of the test procedures in a safe and professional manner.
Like all the services we offer, our processes and procedures have been carefully developed to minimize our environmental impact.
We also support hydrostatic tests required for other products such as pipelines, spheres and ASME (American Society of Manufacturing Engineers) Division 1 or Division 2 pressure vessels. This integrity test involves filling the vessel or pipe system with a liquid and pressurizing the item to a specific test pressure.

WELLPOINT/ SANDPOINT DEWATERING
When excavations are required to extend beyond the ground water table, site dewatering is required.
For shallow excavations, single-stage wellpoint dewatering is often the most efficient method to achieve an adequate draw down. For deeper excavations a second stage can be installed or alternatively a deep well system employed.
NCS reviews the geo technical report, works with the environmental consultant, and offers a comprehensive dewatering package that includes a dewatering plan, equipment specification, recommendation, filtration and groundwater monitoring.
Correct installation of wellpoint/sandpoint equipment and monitoring of the dewatering process leads to higher system efficiency and cost savings. NCS personnel are highly trained, which links to achieving necessary results within a planned time frame.
Our team has been providing wellpoint/sandpoint dewatering services to the construction industry for over a decade. Through our extensive experience finding the right dewatering solutions for projects both large and small, we have managed to develop the equipment and knowledge to solve virtually any pumping problem.
We have streamlined our wellpoint/sandpoint dewatering services by utilizing engineering staff, field personnel, top equipment and learned strategy.
We offer turnkey dewatering services that meet all your wellpoint/sandpoint dewatering, ground water control, group de-pressurization, deep well dewatering, sewage bypass, open pumping and hydraulic submersible pump applications.
We have a range of wellpoint dewatering pumps, diesel or electric motor drive, or diesel driven piston pumps. Our silent units are best suited for noise sensitive areas with a decibel rating of 66 dBA at 10 meter.
Whether a planned project or an emergency, we are here to help you out with the most efficient and effective wellpoint/sandpoint dewatering solutions
Specilaized Filtration - Particulate and Hydro Carbon Removal
NCS Fluid Handling Systems design team can design a system that will deal with in flow particulate, or dewatering particulate removal as well in situations where a hydro carbon sheen or the presence of hydro carbon is detected NCS Fluid Handling Systems engineered solution team supply, installs and monitors specialized hydrocarbon removal filtration systems, through various filtration methods.
River Bypass or Creek Bypass
The NCS Fluid Handling Systems process starts with a comprehensive review of the site location, terrain and water management services required. Then Our engineering design team provides a comprehensive 'Diversion Plan' or “Bypass Pumping Plan' with a job specific summary, providing all the project specific details. These plans consider the river or creek flow, ground water conditions, and water table levels and if required filtration and disposal locations. The Pumping plan provides both primary and standby pumping unit requirements with supporting topographical equipment locations as well as detailed AutoCAD drawing showing the plan pictorially. The NCS team works closely with our clients and all government agencies to coordinate such items as fish movement activities. Our custom pumping systems will include Department of Fisheries and Oceans-approved suction assemblies, and flexible and adaptable solutions for any terrain we may encounter.
Construction and Municipal - Sewer / Santitary Construction and Upgrade
The existing infrastructure (such as sewer line, pump stations, manufacturing plants) in major cities is getting old. To maintain and upgrade the existing infrastructure construction companies require sewage bypass, which requires rental pumps and generators. Typically bypass pumping will occur because of new construction, lift station repair, re-line existing pipelines, lift station malfunctioning, broken gravity line, force main rupture, tie-ins or a combination of these factors. Almost all sewage bypass work can be handled by NCS Fluid Systems. Sewage bypass requirements must be well understood before selection and design of the pumping equipment. This includes flows (min and max), TDH (total dynamic head), suction lift, NPSH (Net Positive Suction Head Required and Available).
NCS has 4-inch to 12-inch diesel driven pumps available for sale and rent. Our engineering team will assist you in selecting the right pump for your application. Sizing the right pump is the key to achieve a stable sewage bypass and NCS’s huge inventory will make sure the pump is available for your project. Especially for sewage bypass where there is high suction lift and where instant priming is required we recommend electric submersible pumps.
NCS has the complete suite of sewage bypass equipment including (but not limited to) diesel or electric driven dri-prime pumps, electric trash submersibles, hydraulic submersibles and diaphragm pumps. In addition remote monitoring, automatic start-stop, fuel consumption monitoring and HDPE fusion technicians. We are a one-stop shop for pumps and accessories such as road ramps, check valves, gate valves, hoses, steel and aluminum piping, HDPE piping and drip trays.
NCS's bypass team has an extensive inventory of electric sewage submersible pumps and associated submersible power cables. From low volume to high volume and low head to high head electric submersible pumps are your solution of choice. If the suction lift is too much and you need to work in an explosion- proof environment, then hydraulic submersible pumps are the key to your problem. We have hydraulic submersible pumps and power packs.
Hose and fittings are critical to the success of a sewage bypass. NCS’s sewage bypass team has a robust stock of hose and fittings including (but not limited to) lay flat hose, cargo hose, composite hose and suction hose. Our sewage bypass team can design and fabricate a wide variety of equipment. Manifolds, pump skids, hose reels, special fittings and a wide variety of other equipment can be made to your specifications in a cost-effective fashion.
Winter Hydro Test Water Heating
At NCS we recognize that Hydro Testing a tank is not just filling a tank with Water the same applys to pipeline hydrostatic testing, understanding the risks of hydro testing API storage tanks or Pipelines during freezing weather and proper planning, equipment, contingency, test procedures and skilled / trained personnel is key to success. Tank codes or Pipeline codes don't include designs for storing 'ice' nor can you predict the outcome that powerful frozen steel components will negatively react if freezing occurs.
A reality of the industry is that API tanks may required at times to be tested during cold and freezing temperatures. These tests may be to get a tank asset back into service in preparation for seasonal cargo delivers or simply to get valuable commodities back into the supply chain. Whatever the reason, it is fact that tanks are tested in winter and while the planning of these tests may be when weather is warmer and more predictable, winter is less predictable and changes day to night in some regions drastically and the risks are much greater.
With some tests taking multiple days or having multiple transfers and always running 24 – 7, test water temperature maintenance is most important and needs to be considered. In some cases, the owner specification may dictate test water temperature greater than that outlined in API codes but in any case, having sufficient temperature in the test water to provide time to react to daily swings in temperature provides comfort that sufficient time to react is given.
When considering winter hydro testing the engineering and designer team at NCS Fluid Handling Systems design for heating systems with specialized heaters designed to work as an intricate part of the tank heating and circulating system. As specialists in the winter hydro testing field NCS Fluid Handling Systems skilled technicians work year-round training on the use of and improving the performance design of these specialized heating and circulating systems taking a lesson learned approach to consider improvements to the overall system efficiency.
As industry specialists our NCS designers and project managers can provide valuable insight into the system design considering special situations not widely known, such as adequate heat and circulation protection for areas such as manway and nozzle necks that are subject freezing during at test if system designs do not consider the special conditions that lie within these areas of the tanks, as there is virtually no water heat transfer into areas. Freezing of a nozzle neck or manway could lead to catastrophic failure during test if the freeze or brittle fraction. Simple fact is tanks and their appurtenances are not designed to store ice.
When evaluating or preparing for a winter season hydro test consider consulting with NCS Fluid Handling Systems engineering designer(s) to consider the various options given your unique conditions and variables. The risk of using a low-cost provider without knowledge or sufficient background may not be worth the reward and a costlier outcome with significant delays may be the result.
