The first 3kW turbines were placed close to mountain shelters and in Antarctica with the CNR (Italian National Research Council) collaboration. Thanks to this experiences in 2001 the know-how was high and that allowed the foundation of Ropatec.After 15 years of development and more than 1500 wind turbines sold worldwide Ropatec is now the only company in the world that can offer a product of this kind that suits many applications.

Ropatec was established in Bolzano, northern Italy, in 2001. Bolzano is located at the foothills of the Alps, in the beautiful region of South Tyrol, known throughout Europe for the long-standing protection of the environment and sacrosanct traditions. After a long design study period, the company began testing in 1996 a series of innovative, small wind turbine prototypes under extreme weather conditions atop the Alpine peaks. The aim of this effort was to develop a product that was absolutely reliable and durable.
Ropatec wind turbines are today present in over 30 countries.
