We have further developed and commercialized the concept of using osmotic power as a renewable energy source in which high salinity waters and freshwater is mixed to release energy. Salt is a natural resource with an untapped energy production potential ready to support the transition to a decarbonized economy. The technology can be easily applied worldwide to harness energy in various applications.
SaltPower osmotic solution mining technology (patent pending) can make your brine production CO2 free and energy neutral. In some cases, you can even supply surplus clean CO2 free electricity to the grid. Furthermore, the SaltPower technology can replace your existing leaching station. The power produced through the Saltpower technology can be used to run your leaching operation and thereby reduce the intensive energy consumption in the salt production. SaltPower osmotic leaching pumps can be completely integrated into your process without further side streams or discharge.
Underground energy storage - Salt Cavern ExcavationYou can turn excavation of caverns for storage of hydrogen, compressed air and natural gas, into a CO2 free electricity production plant by using SaltPower osmotic solution mining technology. This turns cost into a revenue stream by replacing your leaching pumps and generating a net output of electricity.
Since the Saltpower osmotic leaching pumps are modular, they can easily be transported to a new site after completion of a cavern excavation.
Furthermore, if the brine from the excavation is to be discharged, it can be used for additionally CO2 free electricity production for society, making brine discharge a revenue stream.
Geothermal Osmotic PowerBy integrating osmotic power and geothermal heat it is possible to obtain an energy optimizing synergy effect. The geothermal saline water is used to produce district heating and at the same time to produce electricity. The electricity produced through PRO can be supplied to the existing grid and used in the geothermal plant, hence reducing the energy consumption of producing district heating.
