About Us
Sembmarine SLP has over 40 years of unparalleled expertise and experience in the offshore energy industry and we are proud to be the only provider of true single-source EPIC capability in the UK with all personnel based in-house.
We are a subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine Ltd of Singapore, one of the world's largest EPC contractors in the offshore engineering industry with access to 12 construction yards around the globe. Together with our parent company we can offer the capacity and know how to build any size of offshore structure.
Whilst our parentage offers access to extensive capacity and solid security for our customers, the fact that 30% of Sembmarine SLP Limited is owned by its operational management demonstrates the management’s commitment and passion that are hallmarks of our products.
Our project-based philosophy promotes the interaction of innovative designers and engineers with some of the industry’s most experienced project management, procurement, compliance and construction personnel to provide integrated turnkey solutions to our customers.
We always aim ‘to exceed client expectations in safety, design, quality and delivery' and the high volume of repeat business is a measure of our customers’ satisfaction with our performance.
Our advantageous geographical location on a promontory in Lowestoft, the most easterly yard in the UK, allows direct access to the North Sea, whilst the harbour benefits from a low tidal range which significantly assists load out operations.
Project Management
Sembmarine SLP’s Project Management Team consists of highly talented personnel with a long history of diverse offshore experience. Our Project Managers have been developed from design and construction engineering backgrounds ensuring a true understanding of what is required to successfully deliver offshore projects. They are also able to carry out offshore visits or can be based offshore as each project demands.
Our fully qualified Project Managers work very closely with all relevant department managers including Engineering, Compliance and Procurement and this, in conjunction with our vast experience as an EPC contractor, facilitates delivery of the end result safely, to the highest quality, within budget and on time. With over 40 years of project experience, Sembmarine SLP are uniquely equipped to apply lessons learnt to the benefit and needs of the client.
Engineering
With over 40 years of EPC experience to draw on, our exceptional in-house complement of designers, engineers and draughtsmen is key to Sembmarine SLP’s continuing success. The only true single-source EPIC capability available in the UK, we have built up a comprehensive range of personnel, equipment and procedures to provide the first class engineering support that the offshore engineering industry demands.
We understand that consistency is essential and our policy is such that continuity in engineering is maintained throughout the lifecycle of each project from initial design right through to project mechanical completion and commissioning.
Having all personnel based in-house allows offshore design and engineering to be closely coupled with construction, which in turn means that significant savings can be made both in engineering man hours and construction costs. Man hours are reduced by the elimination of interfaces between the various phases of the project including concept design, detailed design, construction and installation.
These close links between departments, in conjunction with our vast experience in the offshore energy industry as an EPC contractor, facilitates efficient project management ensuring delivery of the end result safely, to the highest quality, within budget and on time.
Procurement
Sembmarine SLP’s skilled Procurement Team has extensive in-house experience - a key factor in their EPC and EPIC capability. The knowledge and skills acquired over many years of successfully executed projects enables the Procurement Team to dynamically initiate changes in procurement methods, systems, procedures and working practices in accordance with the needs of our clients.
The wide range of commodities sourced by sembmarine SLP, both domestically and internationally, has resulted in a comprehensive understanding of market conditions and trends. This awareness allows us to identify the most appropriate contracting procurement strategy and the most reputable contractors to provide fast and reliable procurement services to a specific project team.
The benefits achieved by the better management of the supply chain for both offshore procurement and onshore procurement:
- Lower unit costs
- Improved efficiencies thereby reducing overhead costs
- Reduced paperwork through e-commerce
- Assured delivery performance
- Guaranteed quality standards
- Absolute environmental compliance
Improved communication channels, product feedback, access to and involvement of the supplier/manufacturers and continuous two-way development of long term relationships has enabled sembmarine SLP’s Procurement Team to create win-win situations for itself, its clients and its suppliers.

Our geographical location on a promontory in Lowestoft allows direct access to the North Sea, whilst the harbour benefits from a low tidal range which significantly assists the load out operation. The direct sea access facilitates both cargo barges and coasters for receipt of materials and delivery of completed structures.
Other amenities onsite include engineering and procurement offices, bulk storage, substantial fabrication workshops, construction areas, and blasting and painting shops which ensure a smooth transition through the phases of EPC and EPIC contracting.
Sembmarine SLP's key amenities include:
- Extensive construction facilities to 55,000m²
- Nominal load bearing capacity of 10t/m²
- Capacity to transfer up to 6,000 tonnes via two load out quays
- Capability to moor barges up to 120m in length and 35m wide next to the load out quay, for onward transportation

We take pride in our meaningful approach to health, safety and environmental management. Our objective is to ensure that all operations are carried out safely and efficiently with no harm to people, the environment or damage to plant or equipment.
