Solar and Sustainable Energy Society of Canada Inc. (SESCI)
The Solar & Sustainable Energy Society of Canada Inc. (SESCI) is a national charitable organization that works to advance the use and awareness of sustainable energy, both in Canada and in developing countries. Originally founded in 1974, SESCI (“seskee”) collaborates with sustainable energy companies, funding agencies, individuals and other partners to implement sustainable energy projects where they are needed most. SESCI is the Canadian chapter of the International Solar Energy Society.
Sustainable energy refers to energy derived from renewable sources - such as hydroelectricity, solar, wind, tidal, geothermal - as well as technologies designed to improve energy efficiency. Sustainable energy projects can be a driver of economic growth and resiliency, as well as environmental protection. In developing countries and many communities in Canada, they can also help to alleviate poverty and contribute to social progress.
