Since 1983 the Foundation of the Association of Energy Engineers with its Scholarship Program had encouraged qualified scholars in energy management, energy engineering, and sustainability to further education in these fields. About Us
The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), founded in 1977 by Albert Thumann, is a nonprofit professional society of over 18,000 members in more than 100 countries. The mission of AEE is “to promote the scientific and educational interests of those engaged in the energy industry and to foster action for Sustainable Development.”
AEE offers a full array of informational outreach programs including seminars (live and online), conferences, journals, books, and certification programs. AEE's network of over 100 local chapters meets regularly to discuss regional issues. AEE's roster of Corporate Members is a veritable “who's who” from the commercial, industrial, institutional, governmental, energy services, and utility sectors.
The AEE Energy Insight is a high-quality online newsletter that focuses on the accomplishment of the Association and its members. AEE publishes three technical journals: Energy Engineering and Strategic Planning for Energy & the Environment complimentary to all AEE members, and Cogeneration & Distributed Generation Journal, complimentary to those AEE members who are also members of the Cogeneration & Distributed Generation Institute.
The Foundation of the Association of Energy Engineers is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to furthering education in energy and management. To date, the Foundation has awarded over $950,000 in scholarships for use by outstanding students.
About the AEE Foundation`s Scholarship Fund
Purpose
The AEE Foundation Scholarship program was established to encourage qualified practitioners in energy engineering and energy management to further education in these fields by awarding scholarships. To date, the Foundation has awarded over $950,000 in funds for use by more than 1900 outstanding students.
Eligible Studies
Scholarships are available to candidates obtaining their undergraduate or graduate degrees who are enrolled in an accredited college or university focusing on energy engineering, energy management, and energy/sustainability.
Applying for Scholarships
All individual applicants must be nominated by a local AEE Chapter. We begin accepting applications January 1st. All scholarship forms must be sent electronically to the Scholarship Chair by May 1st. Step 1: Read AEE Foundation Constitution and Bylaws and AEE Foundation Scholarship Procedure.
Step 2: Locate us
Find your local AEE Chapter and submit your completed application form with supporting documents to them for nomination.
Step 3: Application Checklist: NOTE: All documentation sent to the AEE local chapter must be in PDF form. (No exceptions!)
- Submit your FAEE Student Application
- Current Transcripts: Unofficial transcripts are OK as long as they indicate dates, name of the school and complete student identification)
- Essay: 100-300 word essay indicating why you want to pursue a career in the energy industry, your real financial need, and what your professional/personal goals are.
- Personal Recommendation Letter: This could come from a school faculty member, corporate, or non-profit entities. No more than 2 letters of recommendation per applicant.
- Additional Documentation: You can provide additional information on any awards you've received, volunteer records, or other relevant experience you want us to consider with your application (no more than 2 pages).
Step 4: Students can send applications to the local AEE chapters until May 1st (deadline will be May 1st 12PM (EST), no exceptions)
Step 5: The AEE Foundation will notify applicants and Chapter Scholarship Chairs of results by U.S. mail and publish the list of recipients on August 1st.
The AEE Foundation is aware on the rising costs of higher education and that’s why the FAEE is expanding its efforts to bolster and enhance the financial underpinnings of the Scholarship Program. The AEE Foundation continues to welcome contributions from AEE chapters, members, certified professionals, corporations, and individuals who historically are the backbone of our funding. Major industry leaders increasingly recognize the value of the AEE Scholarship Program and the importance of their role in contributing to the development of future energy visionaries.
