The World Energy Council hosts the World Energy Congress, which is the world’s largest and most influential energy event covering all aspects of the energy agenda. Staged every three years, the Congress provides a platform for energy leaders and experts in all aspects of the sector to address the challenges and opportunities facing suppliers and consumers of energy. The World Energy Congress is the triennial flagship event of the World Energy Council. It has gained recognition since the first event in 1924 as the premier global forum for leaders and thinkers to debate solutions to energy issues. In addition to the discussions, the event provides an opportunity for executives to display their technologies and explore business opportunities. With the upcoming Congress in Istanbul, to be held under the theme “Embracing new frontiers”, the event will have taken place in 21 major cities around the world since its founding.

World Energy Congress 2016 İstanbul
The World Energy Congress, being World Energy Council’s global flagship event is the premier international, multi-energy forum for participants to better understand energy issues and solutions from a global perspective. The 23rd World Energy Congress will be held in Istanbul at October 9-13, 2016. The main theme for Congress “Embracing New Frontiers” promises an innovative concept and content.
This time Istanbul is hosting the leaders who will build the future of energy from today.
The 23rd World Energy Congress will enable dialogue among Energy Ministers and leaders from business, finance and academia around the world who will seek options for delivering sustainable energy systems on national, regional and global levels during dedicated sessions including the World Energy Leaders’, the Future Energy Leaders’ and the Energy Trilemma Summits.
The event will bring together more than 10.000 top world leaders in the field of energy, coming from industry, governments, and international organizations, as well as the media, universities and energy industry associations in a unique and wonderful city Istanbul which is a bridge connecting not only East and West, but also the past and the future.
Future Energy Leaders Programme
The Council’s Future Energy Leaders form a community of exceptional young professionals who share a commitment to shaping the global energy future
The Council’s Future Energy Leaders’ programme (FEL-100) is designed to help shape, inspire and grow energy leaders of tomorrow. It serves as a platform for engaging a limited number of ambitious young professionals in national, regional and international activities and events with the objective to inspire participants to become the next generation of energy leaders capable of solving the world’s most pressing challenges regarding energy and sustainability.
Through the FEL-100, these individuals can further their experience, knowledge and skills in an energy-focused environment and contribute to the Council’s global dialogue. The programme is designed to build on the ideas and innovative potential of the next generation, helping to develop new ways of thinking and frame the future of sustainable energy.
At the World Energy Congress, an integrated programme, specifically designed for future energy leaders, offers a unique opportunity to better understand energy issues and solutions from a global perspective.

Side Events
Side events are private events organised by external organisations who wish to attract the Congress’ high-level attendees to their events. These events can be in the form of meetings or social events (cocktails, dinners etc.).
The number of side events will depend upon the availability of the schedule. Meetings will take place in the congress venue throughout the conference period. Therefore the secretariat may have to decline some of the applications due to space constraints at the venue.
