ADA-ES receives five-year, US$35m AC contract
ADA-ES, Inc. (Littleton, CO) announced that has received a contract from a major electric utility to supply treated activated carbon (AC) for the reduction of mercury emissions from the utility’s coal-fired power generating units. The AC supply contract extends for five years and is expected to generate revenues of about $35 million for ADA-ES. The contract also contains a one-time option for the utility to increase AC quantities by up to 50% from current commitments. “The contract terms reflect the type of long-term take-or-pay commitment we believe is necessary to support debt financing for the new AC production facility,” noted Michael Durham, ADA-ES’s president and CEO. The company previously announced a plan to build a new large-scale AC production facility, with the first of six production lines to be operational by early 2010
