Additional support for UK energy from waste projects
The UK government announced additional funding of GBP 10 million for anaerobic digestion and waste infrastructure and a continued increase of GBP 8 per tonne per year to the standard rate of landfill tax up to 2013. These measures will encourage investment in sustainable waste management and will enable over 850,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent savings to be made each year.
The 'Energy from Biomass and Waste UK' (EBW UK) Conference & Exhibition on January 26-27, 2010 in London focuses on the growing market created by Great Britain's landfill diversion and bioenergy production targets. The conference features more than 50 presentations on market trends, available biomass and waste treatment technologies, business models and best-practice reports. At the exhibition, companies from the UK and international will showcase the latest products and services. Over 1,000 delegates are expected to attend.
Exhibitors who sign up for their booth by April 30, 2009 save 5% on their exhibit space and have the chance to secure a speaking opportunity at the conference.
