After a two-year allocation hiatus, this week saw the second Contract for Difference (CfD) allocation round begin. With only less established technologies eligible to compete, and a “maxima” of 150MW applied to all fuelled technologies projects, this new framework has sparked widespread debate regarding the future for gasification and pyrolysis projects.
At London’s upcoming World Waste to Energy & Resources Summit on May 23-24, a carefully crafted panel of experts will explore the impact of the latest allocation round, in addition to analysing the success of projects emerging from the first auction. The effectiveness of alternative subsidy schemes will also be up for debate.
