Marietta, Georgia -- Bekaert Corporation has sold an ultra-low emission Clean Enclosed Burner (CEB®) system, model CEB 500, to Warren E&P, an oil exploration and production company located within the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) in Wilmington, California. This unit will be the third CEB 500 Bekaert has sold to Warren E&P. Last year Bekaert sold four other CEB systems to oil exploration and production companies in southern California.
Many of the oil exploration and production companies in Southern California have wells that also generate “associated” or “produced” gas, which is a mixture of various hydrocarbons (methane, ethane, propane, etc…) that is pumped to the surface with the crude oil. This associated gas is then separated from the oil and can be used as a fuel by the oil company for their “heater-treaters”, boilers or in micro-turbines. Warren E&P is utilizing Bekaert’s ultra-low emission CEB 500 to handle any excess associated gas that is produced that is beyond their current requirements. According to Tim Egan, Market Manager for Bekaert’s CEB technology in North America, “The CEB represents an economical and environmentally acceptable way to dispose of excess associated gas, especially in extreme and severe non-attainment areas, such as southern California.”
The CEB 500 has a maximum thermal capacity of 17 MMBTU/hr or roughly 408 MCF per day at 1,000 BTU/scf. It also has a compact foot print that is roughly four feet by four feet by 18 feet tall. Bekaert guarantees that the emissions from the CEB will not exceed 15 ppm of NOx (
