August 2012 CIP report focuses on smart grid security

The August 2012 issue of The CIP Report from George Mason University's Center for Infrastructure Protection and Homeland Security highlights the significance and challenges to securing the smart grid. The report includes an overview of smart grid security by Deputy Assistant Secretary Hank Kenchington and the findings for reducing cyber risks from the Workshop on Securing the Smart Grid: Best Practices in Supply Chain Security, Integrity, and Resilience. The issue also includes contributions from Progress Energy explaining their collaborative efforts in building bridges between operations technology, information technology, and supply chain professionals and from Schweitzer Engineering Laboratory analyzing their best practices designed to ensure supply chain security in smart grid components. Various companies offer their best practices in supply chain security, resilience, and integrity and the Director of Global Supply Chain Security with the National Security Staff describes the U.S. government’s integrated and collaborative approach to enhancing global supply chain security.
