Washington State University is hosting the Imagine Tomorrow competition to challenge high school students to explore new ways to support the transition to alternative energy sources. The competition, held on May 30–June 1, 2014, asks students to work together in teams to research topics related to biofuels, technology, behavior, or design.

Bioenergy Technologies Office’s (BETO’s) Leslie Ovard will be on the panel of judges for the competition's biofuels challenge. She will be judging the competition with representatives from a few of the biggest brands in the energy industry, including The Boeing Company, Puget Sound Energy, and Climate Solutions. The challenge prompts students to demonstrate a technological design or behavior aspect of how biofuels will be utilized in the United States or around the world. Participating teams will have an opportunity to win more than $100,000 in cash prizes, as well as a trip to BETO’s Biomass 2014 conference.
