Bull Creek Wind Project, in western Alberta, represents the first of Windlab’s projects to reach operations in North America.
The site was first identified by Windlab in 2007 and the land was quickly secured.
Windlab sold the project to BluEarth Renewables in 2011, who then continued the development of the project. Based on the strong wind resource at the site, Bull Creek won a competitive tender to supply renewable energy to Alberta schools.
The project went into construction in 2015 and commenced operations in the same year.
Over its lifetime, the project is expected to inject $15 million into the local economy.
