CHO-Power plant construction completion celebration
17 month after the laying of the foundation, Europlasma is pleased to announce that construction work on the CHO-Power plant in Morcenx is now complete, and that the budget has been adhered to.
This plant is the most powerful one worldwide to convert industrial waste and biomass into energy through gasification, enhanced by plasma technology.
The start-up is scheduled for end of July / early August 2012; commercial operation at half power is due to start in autumn 2012. The scheduled ramp-up period of one year to deliver the maximum power of 12MWe (corresponding to electricity needs of 50,000 inhabitants) will begin following the above commissioning.
The plant (18,000 sq meters) consists in three main islands; 1) the CHO fuel (waste and woodchip) which is already commissionned, 2) the electricity generation and 3) the heat recovery system (a multi purposes dryer of 5,000 sq. meters). All operating contracts for the plant (feedstock, off-take, etc...) are fully secured. Electrical grid connection is operational.
This plant, utilizing CHO-Power proprietary technology, is owned by CHO Morcenx, an SPV company in which CHO Power has today 25% stakeholding (75% being owned by our major financial partner), to be increased to 45% once some important milestones are met. The total cost of the plant is over €40m.
Further similar plants are under active consideration with our financial partners and local developers; all the cooperation agreements are signed. As soon as the Morcenx plant comes into production, the Group will communicate the projects pipeline and the strategy to address it.
Political, financial, industrial partners and shareholders are invited to inaugurate the plant on 9 July, before the start-up, and to visit it before doors are temporally closed to the public throughout the commissioning and ramp-up period.
