Construction contract for 250 kW biogas plant concluded in Japan
EnviTec Waste-to-Energy pilot project launched
Lohne -- Setting new standards: That's the common goal of EnviTec Biogas AG and the Japanese biogas company RENAGEN. Following the signing of the planning contract, which already took place in the summer, the Lower Saxon biogas all-rounder EnviTec has now received the signed construction contract. The 250 kW biogas plant to be built near the Japanese city of Osaka is scheduled to go online in spring 2015. 'This project allows us to prove the efficiency of our Waste-to-Energy technology on the Japanese market now too', says Hendrik van der Tol, EnviTec Regional Director Asia/Pacific.
For the industrial country of Japan, energy generation from waste material marks an important step towards the attainment of the country's climate objectives. With a population of over 126 million, Japan is ranked as the tenth most populous country in the world. Before the Tsnunami disaster, the island country ranked third place among the world's greatest producers of nuclear-generated electricity after the USA and France. Today, none of the former 50 active reactors in Japan delivers electricity. At the time, oil from the Gulf region and coal from Australia had been the most important sources of energy besides atomic energy. A vanishingly small four percent of Japan's energy was derived from renewable energy sources.
'Together with the technological expertise of EnviTec Biogas, we would like to establish ourselves in Japan's emerging biogas market', declares Daisuke Mishima, CEO of RENAGEN. With the equivalent in Euro of 28 cents to twenty years, the Japanese government has now introduced guaranteed feed-in compensations. 'Together with our local partner RENAGEN, we would like to exploit this trend and take on a pioneering role as an ambassador for the all-rounder biogas', continues van der Tol. RENAGEN is part of REMATEC Holdings, a leading recycling company group based in Japan and Southeast Asia. An annual total of up to ten biogas plants is planned for construction in Japan in the scope of the strategic partnership with EnviTec.
