CTV Toronto relying on Cummins rental packages for standby power in televising Summer Olympics from London, U.K.
Source: Cummins Inc.
CTV Toronto is the flagship station of the CTV Television Network, the largest privately owned network in Canada. The station will be broadcasting the Summer Olympics from London this summer. The last thing CTV Toronto wants is to lose power and be unable to transmit the exciting sounds and images of the games. So they once again turned to Cummins for reliable backup power.
The station has experience with Cummins, having previously rented a C500 D6RG trailerized unit. The C500 D6RG rental package is a fully integrated mobile power solution, with custom-designed switchgear to meet severe requirements. This particular unit also has a new TC (Transport Canada) tank and a cold-weather package, to ensure operation during a Toronto winter.
The station’s great experience with their first 500 kW rental system led them to order a second unit. This will ensure there is reliable standby power this summer when the station will be broadcasting all the Olympic thrills of victory and agonies of defeat.
