Cypress Envirosystems’ Portfolio Available for Purchase by Federal, State and Local Government Agencies through GSA’s Federal Supply Schedule
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cypress Envirosystems, a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ:CY), today announced that its portfolio of non-invasive retrofit solutions for saving energy is now listed on the GSA’s Federal Supply Schedule. The long-term, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract gives Cypress streamlined access to one of the world’s largest building portfolios (GSA maintains 9,642 facilities consisting of 370.2 million square feet), along with many other federal, state and local agencies, without the need for time-consuming bid processes or contract negotiations.
Government customers within these agencies can now simply buy Cypress’s pre-approved products using the GSA Advantage! online ordering system. The listing demonstrates Cypress Envirosystems’ leadership in quality, customer service and innovation, as the GSA thoroughly evaluates vendors to ensure they consistently deliver high-quality products and services that meet important needs of the customer.
The addition of Cypress Envirosystems’ portfolio to the GSA Schedule will enable the government to save energy, reduce costs and improve operations. The company’s solutions are non-invasive, cost 60-80% less than alternatives and deliver payback in 18 months or less. In particular, the Wireless Pneumatic Thermostat and Wireless Steam Trap Monitor will be important tools for the government to achieve its goal of reducing energy intensity in its facilities by 30% as required in Executive Order 13423 and the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.
The GSA Schedule listing builds on several successful federal and local government projects that used Cypress Envirosystems’ technologies to reduce energy consumption. NASA Ames Research Center recently deployed approximately 1,400 WPTs under a Utility Energy Service Contract with Pacific Gas & Electric (http://www1.eere.energy.gov/femp/pdfs/fupwg_fall11_sim.pdf). Also, two California Energy Commission (CEC) programs funded under the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act—Oakland Shines and the Energy Technology Assistance Program (ETAP)—deployed the WPT to several municipal, university and large commercial buildings throughout California. A WPT case study of an ETAP project at the University of California, San Diego documented electricity savings of 21% and gas savings of 51% (http://energy-solution.com/etap/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/ETAP_UCSanDiego-WirelessHVAC_CaseStudy.pdf). Cypress’s technologies have also been successfully installed by VA Medical Centers, the Social Security Administration, and many other federal and local government facilities.
Cypress Envirosystems’ products will be available to the government on the EC America GSA Federal Supply Schedule 084 (GS-074-0221V) Total Solutions for Facility Management Systems. The contract is held by the immixGroup, who helps technology companies do business with the government. Cypress Envirosystems will be supported by immixGroup’s Technology Sales Division, a unique business with an exclusive focus on the public sector. The immixGroup will also assist Cypress’s channel partners and resellers in doing business with the government. Art Richer, President of immixGroup, said, 'We are pleased to help Cypress Envirosystems better serve its government customers by providing easy, reliable access to the company’s solutions through the contract vehicles customers prefer.'
Harry Sim, CEO of Cypress Envirosystems, said, “We are proud to have passed GSA’s rigorous selection criteria and pre-approval process. The federal government is the largest single owner of buildings and facilities in the country, and streamlining the procurement process will boost our business, help our channel partners, and ensure our customer receives the best solutions for the best price.”
About Cypress Envirosystems, Inc.
Cypress Envirosystems is a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor (NASDAQ:CY). Its mission is to save energy and improve productivity in existing plants and buildings, using state-of-the-art non-invasive and wireless technologies to minimize disruption and cost, delivering payback of 18 months or less. Their product portfolio consists of the Wireless Pneumatic Thermostat (WPT), Wireless Steam Trap Monitor (WSTM), Wireless Gauge Reader (WGR), Wireless Transducer Reader (WTR), Wireless Freezer Monitor (WFM), and the equipment required for the wireless infrastructure. WPT solution retrofits existing pneumatic thermostats to deliver the benefits of direct digital control (DDC) at a significantly lower cost and without disruption to building occupants. The WSTM remotely monitors steam traps and alerts staff of failures to avoid energy loss and damage to assets. The WGR and WTR can extract data from any existing gauge, transducer or sensor to facilitate Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx), efficient use of consumables, and alarming of systems that are out of tolerance. The WFM monitors low-temperature research freezers for predictive analytics and alarming failures so the loss of their contents can be avoided.
