District heating and coolingwill drive the sustainable development of cities
Conference Registration Early Bird Fees - till 7 February
Responding to the current climate and economic challenges, the Bulgarian capital Sofia will host again the annual Exhibition and Forum for South-East Europe which will be held from 5th to 7th March 2014.The event includes the following initiatives: ‘Energy Efficiency & Renewables’, ‘Smart Cities’ (intelligent buildings, energy storage, mobility & ICT) and ‘Save the Planet’ (waste management & recycling).
Its 10th edition will enhance the key role of the innovative technologies which could provide a long-term sustainable development of the Region as well as encourage the foreign investments in local economics through new projects, policies and practices. This flagship event will bring together all important stakeholders, state and local representatives.
A highlight in the Conference will be the session ‘Rethinking District Heating and Cooling in Europe’, organized by Euroheat & Power. The thermal energy plays the most important role in the European energy demand. Heating represents the largest energy end-use in Europe, being responsible for approximately 50 % of total final energy consumption. Now 40 % of commercial and institutional buildings in Europe have cooling systems and demand is set to grow substantially. By 2020, the district heating and cooling sector must accelerate the green transition. This shall be achieved through large-scale replication of best practice: better valorisation of local resources, like renewables (incl. secondary biomass and waste) and surplus energy and by making these networks more efficient.
For the 5th year in a row the advanced Austrian technologies will be presented at the Austrian Pavilion at the parallel Exhibition. Global Hydro Energy, a provider of small hydropower plants, Polytechnik, a producer of biomass fired boilers, and Vecoplan, a developer of future-oriented technology in the recycling industry, have already joined the Pavilion. Machinery and systems for the solid waste and biomass treatment will be showcased by Komptech.
CPM Europe is the world leading pelleting equipment manufacturer. The product line includes crushing and shredding machines, pellet mills, coolers, dryers, coaters, etc.
Costruzioni Nazzareno and Weiss will participate at the Exhibition for the 2nd time and will demonstrate complete wood pellet production systems and plants for bio fuels ranging from 1000 kW to 30 MW.
EBIOSS Energy was established as a holding structure for acquisition of shares and managerial control of companies developing projects in the waste to energy and biomass sectors. These projects include establishment and operation of power plants using waste.
The visitors will be acquainted also with hybrid modular systems for autonomous power supply; solutions for telecommunications, telemetry and telematics; LED lighting equipment; heat pumps and solar systems, etc.
