Eaton Recognized for Sustainable Best Practices and Community Service
Receives 2014 Fairmount Santrol Sustainable Best Practices Award and Medical Mutual Pillar Award
CLEVELAND -- Power management company Eaton this week received the 2014 Fairmount Santrol Sustainable Best Practices Award and a Pillar Award for its community service initiatives. The awards, sponsored by Medical Mutual and Smart Business Magazine, were presented at a ceremony in Cleveland, Dec. 2.
The Fairmount Santrol Sustainable Best Practices Award is presented to the organization that best demonstrates sustainable business practices. The Pillar Award honors organizations and individuals that best demonstrate a commitment to making a difference in the northeast Ohio community.
“More than a responsibility, Eaton regards sustainability as fundamental to our business and pivotal to our future growth and success,” said Harold Jones, senior vice president, Environment, Health and Safety, Eaton. “Working with our customers and suppliers, we are helping to meet the world’s growing power needs without consuming more of the world’s resources. Our goal is to continue to make a bigger impact in the marketplace and our communities while leaving a smaller footprint throughout the world.”
Don McGrath, senior vice president, Communications, Eaton, spoke about the company’s legacy of community service. “Our commitment to volunteerism began 100 years ago with our founder, Joseph Eaton,” he said. “We are proud to continue his commitment and are pleased to share this award with all our employees who serve their communities to improve the lives of our friends and neighbors.”
In the Cleveland area, Eaton has eight manufacturing or support facilities that reflect the company’s power management focus, providing customers with safe, reliable and efficient electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power. All of the local operations are involved, in one way or the other, with energy-efficient products, environmentally sustainable practices and active involvement in community activities.
“This class of honorees is truly inspirational,” says Dustin S. Klein, publisher of Smart Business. “They give back individually and as organizations. They get involved in causes they care about. And the nonprofit leaders have forged meaningful relationships with the for-profit companies and their executive teams to better deliver upon their missions. All told, the Pillar Award class of 2014 truly understands how to strengthen the regional communities where we all live and work.”
The Pillar Award program was founded in 1998 and honors organizations and individuals that best demonstrate a commitment to making a difference. For information on the award winners, along with profiles of the finalists for this year’s Pillar Awards, visit www.sbnonline.com.
