Enduring solutions above and below ground – Eaton presents technologies for mining at Bauma Africa 2013
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton will showcase its latest construction and mining technology for severe-duty applications at Bauma Africa 2013 (Stand Hall 2, H2. 140). Eaton will showcase solutions spanning the mining value chain that optimize fuel efficiency, productivity, uptime and operator comfort.
Key Eaton products on display at the show include:
- Eaton's LifeSense® – a breakthrough technology for real-time, condition-based, hydraulic hose monitoring
- Guardian Seal™ – a new nickel-free plating technology dramatically improving corrosion protection
- Winner® brand – hoses and fittings improving system connection reliability
- Trax™ – a uniquely encoded hydraulics hose tracking system supporting assets uptime.
'Mining is a competitive business under constant pressure to improve. Customers expect components and solutions that not only last but perform in the harshest of environments,' said Emil Berning, managing director of Eaton's Hydraulics Group in South Africa. 'We design products that enable our customers to optimize machine performance, maintenance and service costs at every stage of mining, from exploration to processing, whether underground or on the surface. Our extensive global presence and distribution network gives customers access where they do business, helping them achieve their goals faster and more reliably.'
Product information
Compatible with standard hydraulic fluids, Guardian Seal plating is also nickel free, solvent free, and meets global requirements for Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), Endof-Life Vehicle (ELV), and Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances (REACH).
LifeSense® technology is a patented hydraulic hose condition monitoring and notification system that monitors the health of hydraulic hose assemblies in real time. It detects internal fatigue, as well as external damage, and provides advanced notification if the hose is approaching the end of its useful life.
With Guardian Seal™, Walterscheid™ tube fittings meet the need for higher corrosion protection that is required in the most challenging environments. Guardian Seal™ has been proven to prevent white corrosion to a minimum of 240 hours and red corrosion to a minimum of 720 hours. As a result, Guardian Seal™ allows Walterscheid™ tube fittings to exceed the SAE corrosion resistance requirements of 96 hours to red corrosion and meet the more stringent European VDMA 24576-K5 requirements of 720 hours to red corrosion.
Eaton Winner® hoses and fittings are Eaton's engineered solution for fluid applications that facilitate assembly and reduce inventory requirements. Those best-in-class products allow our customer to improve system connection reliability.
Trax™ is a web-based hydraulics hose tracking system. It helps customers to reduce asset down time by providing fast and accurate information speeding up hose assembly replacements. Reporting tools assist in continuous improvement programs and preventative maintenance initiatives.
