energyTEAM`s Energy Management Consultants confirmed as ESOS Lead Assessors
From 17th October 2014, The Energy Institute has been approved by the Environment Agency to qualify Lead Assessors under the UK Government's Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).
The Environment Agency has today confirmed that members of the Energy Institute’s Register of Professional Energy Consultants (RPEC) and the Energy Institute’s Chartered Energy Managers are eligible to conduct energy audits for organisations looking to comply with ESOS, a mandatory scheme for large UK organisations.
As a result of this announcement, energyTEAM’s in-house team of Energy Management Consultants, who are members of the RPEC register and Chartered Energy Managers, have been approved as ESOS lead assessors.
Graham Munro, Head of Energy Services at energyTEAM, says, “We are thrilled that our Energy Management Consultants are now officially able to act as ESOS lead assessors. Our team have worked hard to ensure that we have the qualifications and experience necessary to support our clients with all areas of their energy management including legislative compliance under ESOS.”
Since the early development of ESOS, the Energy Institute’s members have engaged with DECC by contributing to all relevant consultations and participating in stakeholder meetings. As the leading professional membership body for the energy industry, and having served the energy management sector for well over 40 years in its 100-year history, the Energy Institute continues to provide objective and up-to-date information about the scheme.
Sarah Beacock FEI, Skills and Capability Director, Energy Institute, says, ‘The Energy Institute has been working with DECC on the development of ESOS since last year. We are pleased to see the skills, experience and competence of our members being recognised to help implement this new regulation. ESOS will help to identify areas of potential energy savings but it mustn’t end there. For the scheme to truly effect change, efficiency measures and initiatives identified within each organisation must be implemented.’
RPEC is the UK’s only cross-sectoral register of professional energy consultants; all of whom are rigorously assessed, have achieved chartered status and are bound by a strict Code of Conduct. The Chartered Energy Manager title is available from the Energy Institute for individuals with at least 4 years’ experience and expertise in energy management and provides a lead role in the development and implementation of energy policy.
