Envirochemie supplies water treatment plant for new coal-fired power plant in Pakistan
Faisalabad-based polyester and textile manufacturer, Ibrahim Fibres Ltd, has placed a third order with Envirochemie for the planning, construction and commissioning of a well water treatment plant.
Ibrahim Fibres Ltd operates its own, on-site power supply units, allowing it to remain largely independent of the public grid. As for the new coal-fired power plant, Envirochemie is now supplying the third phase of well water treatment.
The new treatment plant prepares 180 m³ of well water per hour, which is used primarily for the cooling water circuit within the coal-fired power plant. This incorporates technology complete with a cleaning stage for general desalination and degassing. From a partial flow of the treated water, up to 40 m³ per hour, an ion exchanger plant produces fully desalinated water. And with a conductivity value of less than 0.1 µS/cm and less than 5 ppb of silicon dioxide (SiO2), the quality is simply exceptional. This partial flow is used as boiler feed water, with the resulting steam operating the turbines.
“On account of the customer’s extremely positive experience during the construction of the first two well water treatment plants, the company decided to call upon our services once again,” explains Michael Kuhn, Project Manager at Envirochemie.
The first treatment plant to be installed handles an inflow of 100 m³ per hour, while the second handles 180 m³ in the same time frame.
