EnviTec Biogas Signs Cooperation Agreement in China
Five-year plan envisages construction of 20 biogas plants
Lohne/Saerbeck, 17th September 2018 – The 1,570 m3 biogas plant currently being built in the province of Shanxi, 500 km southwest of Beijing, now marks the fifth successful construction project in the People’s Republic of China for the Lohne- and Saerbeck-based EnviTec Biogas AG, and is due to be completed before the end of this year. A sixth plant is also currently in planning.
To further develop what is still an emerging biogas market in China, the biogas all-rounder from Lower Saxony, Germany, therefore signed a cooperation agreement with a Chinese partner company in Berlin on 5th September.
EnviTec Biogas CFO Jörg Fischer: “Signing this agreement is a major milestone for our company and our local partners, in terms of the funding and positioning of the versatile fuel biogas in the country’s climate policy.” The company’s business partner will have local responsibility for project development. “This includes searching for suitable sites in the province of Shanxi, as well as obtaining the necessary permits and funding, and submitting applications for potential subsidies,” Fischer continues. In the future partnership, EnviTec will handle all engineering work and provide expertise for the construction of the 20 plants planned. “This not only includes the entire planning, construction and commissioning phase but also involves using our long-standing technical and biological service know-how,” Fischer goes on to explain.
Environmental awareness is growing in China, and with it a demand for sustainable, renewable energy sources such as biogas. Fischer: “China offers enormous market potential for our innovative biogas technology. With our Chinese partner at our side, and especially in light of our wealth of international experience, we believe we are ideally placed to achieve our shared – and ambitious – plans for the future.”
