Ex-incinerator to be demolished after 20 years
Demolition of a former incinerator in Leicestershire is about to get underway as part of work to improve a county waste site.
The incinerator at Whetstone closed around 20 years ago and the building has since been used as part of the waste management operations at the site, but is no longer required.
The site will remain open for household recycling and waste disposal while the demolition work, expected to last around four weeks, takes place although there maybe some delays to the usual service due to a restricted recycling area.
A Leicestershire county council spokesman said: “We will make every effort to minimise disruption to the recycling and disposal facilities for residents and trade customers.”
