Foundations for Denmark's Largest Wind Farm Now in Place
Source: Smart Grid Observer
January 15, 2018 --
The 49 foundations, which are to carry Denmark's largest wind farm, Horns Rev 3, are now in place in the North Sea north-west of Blåvands Huk on the Danish west coast. The last foundation was piled into the seabed just after New Year and the construction process of the farm is on schedule.
Since mid-October, the installation vessel Innovation' has carried out the installation of the foundations, which has progressed without major challenges. The farm will be in full operation and ready to cover 425,000 Danish households' annual electricity consumption by 2020.
'The installation of the last foundation marks an important milestone for the project. And while the weather gods have not always favoured us, the installation and transportation of foundations have been without major challenges and not one single accident,' says Martin Zappe, Project Director for Horns Rev 3.
