Gamesa and Tecnun sign an agreement to boost engineering training
This morning in San Sebastián, Ignacio Martín, Executive Chairman and CEO of Gamesa, and Iñigo Puente, Director of Tecnun-School of Engineering at Navarra University, signed a collaboration agreement that will align the education received by this School's engineering students with companies' real needs.
Under the agreement, Tecnun students will receive practical training from Gamesa professionals. More specifically, Gamesa engineers will collaborate by giving seminars or classes in signatures such as electrical systems, energy technology and energy efficiency within the School's industrial technology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial electronics engineering and industrial organisation engineering degree programmes.
This agreement will also enable upcoming engineers to visit Gamesa's facilities in order to get to know the company's business activities first-hand. Moreover, Tecnun's students will be able to do work practice, end-of-degree / master projects, PhD theses or R&D projects in collaboration with Gamesa.
Ignacio Martin sought to highlight the fact that 'this agreement evidences our commitment to the training and career development of tomorrow's engineers. It also fortifies our commitment to encouraging interchange between universities and companies as the best way of achieving more competitive companies and universities in sync with the industrial sector's needs.'
Iñigo Puente, meanwhile, stressed that the agreement 'means enriching the student experience by broadening their skills and training with career prospects in mind. In this way, we will develop learning models which will facilitate their placement at leading companies in a range of fields, with this agreement specifically reinforcing Tecnun's strategic focus on the energy sector with the help of Gamesa'.
