GHG consulting company builds US presence with experienced industry leaders
ClimateCHECK a firm that provides greenhouse gas (GHG) management solutions for companies, organizations and governmental agencies, announces today the appointment of Jason Smith as vice president of key accounts. In addition, ClimateCHECK also announces Pablo Päster as its vice president of greenhouse gas management innovations. Smith's and Päster's appointments are part of ClimateCHECK's goal to build its presence in the U.S. and deliver quality GHG consulting services to companies.
Prior to ClimateCHECK, Smith was the executive director for LiveNeutral, a non-profit organization that focuses on educating individuals and companies on how to reduce their global footprint. During his time with LiveNeutral, where he now serves as its board chair, he formed strategic partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and brokered major deals.
'Jason's experience and competencies will drive ClimateCHECK's business development initiatives and help expand our GHG services,' ClimateCHECK's CEO and Co-Founder Tom Baumann said. 'As more companies look for GHG solutions that bring both economic and environmental benefits, Jason's understanding of the industry will enable our customers to achieve their goals.'
Smith earned his MBA in sustainable management from San Francisco-based Presidio School of Management, where he co-founded LiveNeutral. Before Presidio and LiveNeutral, he gained valuable marketing and sales experience at Symphony Products, a producer and importer of environmentally sensitive bamboo products. Currently, Jason sits on the board of Climate Cycle, a fundraiser created to bring renewable energy to public schools across the country.
'ClimateCHECK has more experience, expertise and knowledge in the greenhouse gas management industry than many other firms, making it a very attractive place to work,' said Smith. 'Here, I can fully leverage my background and interests to quickly contribute to ClimateCHECK's growth in the U.S.'
Pablo Päster Named VP, Greenhouse Gas Management Innovations
ClimateCHECK's expansion and mission to better serve companies in the U.S. is also marked by the addition of Pablo Päster, an engineer and expert on sustainability, who is now its vice president of greenhouse gas management innovations.
'We are excited about Pablo joining the ClimateCHECK team,' said Baumann. 'He combines the pertinent engineering and technical skills with the expertise in sustainability and climate change. His role will enable the company to increase the number and quality of our offerings in new markets.'
Päster gained valuable experience in GHG management and sustainability projects while working as a sustainability engineer at URS, one of the largest engineering and construction firms in the world. Here he founded the URS Oakland Sustainable Solutions Group. He also served as a sustainability engineer with Natural Capitalism Solutions, where he was responsible for supply chain sustainability analysis.
'Working with ClimateCHECK provides an excellent opportunity to help shape the dialog around post-Kyoto greenhouse gas reduction frameworks' said Päster. 'Over the years I have gained valuable experience in this area and look forward to applying these skills to my new position and being part of these important innovations.'
Päster also worked at LiveNeutral with Smith and he played an instrumental role by developing the organization's GHG
calculators, now used by thousands of individuals and companies. He first gained relevant experience during his tenure at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Energy and the Environment, in Wuppertal, Germany.
For the past two years Päster has authored AskPablo, a weekly sustainability column, which is now featured on Salon.com. He answers readers' questions about a wide range of topics, from recycling to hybrids. Päster also received his MBA in sustainable management from the Presidio School of Management and has a B.S. in manufacturing engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Calif.
