Growing the Mexico – California Renewable Energy Alliance
The Honorable Guillermo Zúñiga of the Mexico Energy Regulatory Commission Set to Keynote the Renewables Rush Conference in April
NEW YORK, Feb. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Mexico and California have taken bold steps resulting in agreements to forge common efforts to pursue clean energy and address climate change in unprecedented ways. Despite the tense standoff between Mexico and the Trump administration, coupled with the administration’s stance on climate change, the state of California and Mexico along with Canada are focused on achieving greater collaboration on sustainability.
On April 5 in San Francisco, the Renewables Rush, presented by Energy Times, will explore California’s massive commitment to the greening of the electricity sector and the impact it will have on utilities and large energy consumers.
The Honorable Guillermo Zúñiga of the Mexico Energy Regulatory Commission together with Commissioner David Hochschild of the California Energy Commission will discuss how California – a state with an economy greater than all but five nations in the world – is working closely with Mexico to develop a vision for a profoundly differing energy collaboration not limited by national borders. During the keynote presentation Zúñiga and Hochschild will discuss what has been accomplished, what is envisioned for the future and what it means for the future of energy both within America and globally.

“The US is poised to take a divergent direction on energy policy under the Trump administration. Are we headed for an energy civil war?,” asks Rosenberg.
Rosenberg added, “The largest states on both coasts have bold agendas to address climate change by ratcheting up renewables and energy storage. Yet the president and his team don’t believe that climate change is occurring. We’re bringing the industry leaders and energy policymakers together to discuss this policy divide. Attendees will hear what it will mean for electric utilities, entrepreneurs, energy companies and everyone else moving forward.”
The Renewables Rush will gather a large network of visionaries, implementers, decision makers and influencers that are charting the course for the future of electric power generation, delivery and usage.
Leading public utility and energy policymakers will discuss how building a green, sustainable energy sector is creating an entire new spectrum of business opportunities, and how business models and regulations must change. Additional featured speakers include:
- Governor Bill Ritter Jr., Former Governor of Colorado and Center for the New Energy Economy, Director
- John Woolard, Former Google, VP of Energy and Former BrightSource Energy, CEO
