Ireland`s first energy management certification scheme
Certification Europe, Ireland’s leading accredited certification body, is delighted to announce that it is now Ireland’s first and only certification body accredited to certify companies to IS 393, the Irish Energy Standard. This is a significant milestone since the introduction of the standard just over a year ago.
IS 393, specifies a set of requirements which if applied to an organisation’s processes will provide reductions in energy use. The standard is designed to compliment and be integrated with other management system standards (e.g. ISO series), but focuses solely on energy management.
Ireland is one of only 3 countries in the world to have introduced an energy management standard and Certification Europe is delighted to be recognised as the only certification body deemed competent, specifically by the Irish National Accreditation Board, to audit conformance of companies to the standard.
Certification Europe has carried out the majority of energy audits and certifications to IS 393 to date and have certified companies in sectors such as the Food & Drink Industry (including Diageo St. James’s Gate Brewery, Glanbia Ingredients & H.J. Heinz), the Pharmaceutical Sector (including Abbot) and companies in other general manufacturing sectors including Xerox. While all of these companies have engaged in Sustainable Energy Ireland’s Agreements Programme, achieving certification independently verifies their strong commitment to energy management and energy reduction.
As specified by Sustainable Energy Ireland, certification audits to IS 393 must be carried out by an approved body. We are delighted to be the only company capable of offering this service to Irish businesses.
